TriZPUG April 2013 Meeting: Almost Useless Python Features

To make a featured talk at this meeting, send an email with your topic to the email list. As always, spontaneous lightning talks of ten minutes or less on other topics are also welcome. Anything you've learned about Python, no matter how trivial, can be a lightning talk. There's plenty of parking at Caktus and we can walk to nearby after-meeting watering holes.

TriZPUG March 2013 Meeting: Early Childhood Computing and Python Education

Kurt Grandis, Director of Technology for Pruvop, will give a version of his PyCon talk, Planning and Tending the Garden: The Future of Early Childhood Python Education. Kurt will cover some tools (Python and non-Python) that are often used in early childhood computing. Kurt's talk will also cover some resources that are available for early outreach and begin a larger discussion of the resources that could be built. As always, unannounced lightning talks are always welcome. Lightning talks are 5 to 10 minutes extemporaneous expositions on a topic of interest to you, something you recently learned, kind of like a show and tell. We'll be meeting at Splatspace, a non-profit member-supported workshop and hacker meeting place. Splatspace is located in the basement of the Snow Building at 331 W. Main St. in Durham. Parking (free exit after 7pm) is in the back of the building in the lot off Ramseur St. on the downtown Durham loop (one way, approach Ramseur from W. Main St. or W. Chapel Hill St.. If you arrive after 7pm, please call 919-704-4225(HACK) to be let in the door.

TriZPUG February 2013 Meeting: venv

Chris Calloway will present venv, the new virtual environment creation module included with Python 3.3. To announce an additional talk for this meeting, send an email with your topic to the TriZPUG email list. Extemporaneous "lightning talks" of 5-10 minute duration are also welcome. Plenty of free after hours parking is available in the adjacent Centennial Campus decks. An after-meeting location for food and beverage will be decided at the meeting.

TriZPUG January 2013 Meeting: Python AI and Deco

Joseph Tate will demonstrate the Python solver for Pacman he made as a part of his BerkeleyX CSS 188 Artificial Intelligence course. Andy Leeb will present Deco, a drag-and-drop layout composition system for Plone. As always, spontaneous lightning talks of ten minutes or less on other topics are also welcome. Django Bootcamp

Triangle Python Users Group members Caktus Consulting Group announce Django Fundamentals Bootcamp, a two day beginners course for anyone who wants to learn the basics of building a Django web application. Designed for developers with basic programming experience, this course will provide you with the essentials needed to build and develop a simple Django application in a hands-on and interactive setting. The training will focus on the construction of a crossword drill application to illustrate Django’s architecture and versatility. Django Fundamentals Bootcamp takes place Saturday, Janaury 12th and Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Caktus, 209 Lloyd St, Suite 110, Carrboro, NC. Tickets are $550 for the early bird special through November 12, 2012, $700 thereafter, and include coffee, drinks, snacks, and two lunches. For more information visit:

TriZPUG December 2012 Meeting: Topic TBA

This is a third Thursday holiday month meeting. We have two PyOhio t-shirts to give away as door prizes. To have your half to one hour talk featured at this meeting, please post your topic to the TriZPUG email list. As always, unannounced lightning talks are always welcome.
