TriPython April 2015 Meeting: Mystery Python Theater 3K

Francois Dion, founder of PYPTUG, will talk about Python 3, why it should be on your radar, what are some differences, how you should prepare for a transition. He will also review some specific cases in different fields, and what kind of changes had to be done, such as the case of the MMA software, a "Band in a box" style python program that let's you create full midi scores from basic chords, with Python 2 or 3. Extemporaneous "lightning talks" of 5-10 minute duration are also welcome and don't need to be pre-announced. Plenty of free parking is available in the RENCI parking deck. The after-meeting will take place at Bailey's in Ram's Plaza behind RENCI. Come join us for a fun and informative evening.

TriPython March 2015 Meeting: Peru Teen PyCamp: Inspiring Women and Kids To Enter Programming Within The Developing World

Andrea Villanes, co-founder of Women in Technology Peru (WiT Peru), PhD student in Computer Science at NCSU, and a Research Associate at the Institute for Advanced Analytics, will share her journey to a successful event and lessons learned organizing the first Peru Teen PyCamp. The event, sponsored by the Python Software Foundation, introduced 23 teenagers to Python as their first programming language. Lightning talks, 5 to 10 minutes extemporaneous expositions on a topic of interest to you, something you recently learned, kind of like a show and tell, are always welcome as well. Please see the parking instructions on the BCC website. A wide variety of possibilities for the after-meeting are within steps of BCC.
