The Franklin Center

The John Hope Franklin Center for Interdisciplinary and International Studies is a unique consortium of programs committed to revitalizing notions of how knowledge is gained and exchanged.

Directions

The Franklin Center is located in the renovated Hanes Annex at 2204 Erwin Road on the northwest corner of the intersection of Trent Drive and Erwin Road, near Duke Hospital.

Note that Parking is best at The Pickens Clinic, which is across Trent Drive, and has free parking after 6:00pm. Scroll over number 6 on the linked map to see exactly where the Pickens Clinic Parking is relative to the Franklin Center. Map

From RDU Airport, Raleigh and Points East

Via I-40 West: Exit onto the Durham Freeway (NC 147), at exit 279B. Take the Durham Freeway to Fulton Street, exit 15B. Turn left onto Fulton Street. The intersection at the end will be with Erwin Road. Make a left onto Erwin and the JFHC will be on your left.

To access the Pickens Lot, you will want to take a left onto Trent Dr., then a quick right into the Pickens Bldg Parking Lot

From Chapel Hill

Via U.S. 15-501 North: Take 15-501 Byp. N., marked "Duke Univ./Med Ctr." Take exit 107, marked "Duke. Univ. West Campus." You will be on NC 751. Make the next left turn onto Erwin Road. Continue along Erwin Road, past the Duke Hospital on your right. The JHFC will be on your left.

To access the Pickens Lot, you will want to take a left onto Trent Dr., then a quick right into the Pickens Bldg Parking Lot

From I-85 (Hillsborough

Via I-85: Take exit number 172, NC 147 S, towards "Durham/Downtown/Research Triangle Park." You will now be on the Durham Freeway (NC 147). Take the Hillandale Rd./Fulton St. exit. Continue down Fulton St. The intersection at the end will be with Erwin Road. Make a left onto Erwin and te JHFC will be on your left.

Building Access

Enter through door facing the small parking lot and courtyard behind the Franklin Center. We will post a greeter at that door if need be.

Conference Room 240

Conference Room 240 is upstairs. Take the elevator one floor up, to Floor 2. Exit elevator, turn left, then take immediate right, go down long hallway to get to Room 240. Enter. Enjoy.
